How to escape an alligator

“You should listen – this could save your life someday.”
- Mr. Patrick Henning
Thanks to a random Facebook comment to my high school band instructor, I was reminded of the days that band class wasn’t just for music – we actually learned life lessons. And I’m not being sarcastic. I learned how to escape an alligator if it tries to attack me, and I’ve decided to pass this lesson on into the internet void: run in a straight line. An alligator can only follow you for so long before it gets tired and needs a break. Mr. Henning taught us that, and if I ever get back to Florida I’m always going to keep that in mind – you know, just in case. The online music evolution and a geek advent calendar

Regis Behe, a reporter at the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, clearly did his homework. In this article about how artists are making their money and what outlets they’ve begun using to do so is a very interesting read. Remember the Napster fiasco back in the day? It’s funny to think that at one point, in my own lifetime, online music sharing/distribution was looked at as a crime (paid for or otherwise) – and now it’s a must in the media world. Along with the fact that it used to be seen as “selling out” when a musician chose to lend their songs to commericals. Now, the girls drool over the Chris Brown Doublemint commercial that not only used his song “Forever”, but changes the lyrics to cater to their product. We live in interesting times – read up.
Also, my friend Scott posted this link on Twitter and I thought it was wonderful – an advent calendar for web geeks. More specifically, web design and development. We’re on day one – favorite it and check back every day!
