Tentative: Caylee Anthony’s body found
The whole thing is just so sad. My condolences to the family who didn’t hurt her.

The Notorious Bettie Page: 1923 – 2008
My all time favorite picture of Bettie.
Legendary pinup girl from the 1950’s, Bettie Page, died of pneumonia a week after she suffered a heart attack.
What can I say – any woman whose teaching career was difficult because her beauty was too much for her male students to handle is amazing in my book. A legendary knockout – we’ll miss you, Bettie.
UPDATE: I came across this collection of photos on Time’s website – she was so daring with such ease.

McDonald’s vs. Starbucks
Talk about obvious. McDonald’s put up billboards like this in Seattle, the home of Starbucks, in a less than subtle jab at the giant coffee corporation. They claim it is a light-hearted comparative campaign, but it seems to me that is more suited for an anti-drug campaign.
I get what they’re going for – paying more for coffee at one place is dumb when you can get it cheaper elsewhere. But a lot of people are very loyal and picky about their coffee. It doesn’t make them “coffee snobs”, they just like what they like. I personally like Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts and the local Speeder & Earl’s. And I love Caribou Coffee in Chicago. I’m not all that picky. But I admit, I love my froofy drinks.
I agree with them on this:
“Comparative campaigns are all well and good but only when they’re credible and authentic. If the claim is not supportable or the tone is off, you risk losing credibility,” Deb Trevino, director of global communications for Starbucks, told CNN.”
And the best part is that their billboards are targeting an area where the price is only a penny difference between the two companies:
“A 12-ounce cup of coffee at Starbucks in Seattle costs just $1.40, only a penny more than the average price for a same size cup at McDonald’s.”
So, regardless of your opinion on the situation you have to appreciate the balls McDonald’s has to market this campaign. And if you feel strongly against Starbucks, use that penny you saved getting your coffee at McDonald’s and donate it to your nearest bell-ringing volunteer this holiday. Starbucks is already trying to do their part for a cause.

Charice Pempengco – holy crap.
Trying to find a better video of her performance with David Foster that night. I had guessed she was 15. I was close – she was born 5/10/92. She’s a little frustrating to watch ’cause she’s all over the place (physically and vocally), but she’s certainly talented for her age – YouTube brings another talent to light. You go girl.
